Project “Film programme exchange between Riga International Film Festival and Kristiansand International Children’s Film festival”
Implementation period: 17.08.2015. — 30.04.2016.
The project is implemented by the Association “Riga International Film Festival” in cooperation with the Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival.
The project’s aim is to provide an opportunity for children and youth in Norway as well as in Latvia to become acquainted with the worldviews of their peers from other countries, get inspiration and advice from the films’ characters, thus enriching their experience, perception of the world and knowledge about other cultures. The goal is to provide diversity of film repertoire, strengthening the traditions of children’s film festival. Also — to create an event for children and youth, where they can actively participate in the formation of the festival, taking part in children’s juries and get acquainted with the basic principles of filmmaking by participating in animation workshops, that will be organized within Riga IFF.
Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival representatives will recommend and summarize a programme of eight Nordic films, which will be screened in Riga International Film Festival. In its turn, Riga IFF will prepare a programme, consisting of the same amount of mostly Latvian as well as Baltic films, specially targeted for youth and children’s audiences.
The project has received grant co-financing from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism Programme’s “Conservation and Revitalization of Cultural and Natural Heritage” small grant scheme “Cultural exchange” in the amount of EUR 25 446.00 (EEA co-financing – 85 %, Latvian state co-financing – 15 %).
