“SHORT RIGA THINKS THAT A SHORT FILM IS THE NATURAL HABITAT FOR THE CONTEMPORARY AVANT-GARDE IN CINEMA. IT IS A FORMAT THROUGH WHICH THE FILMMAKER EXPLORES AND EXPERIMENTS. WHEN SELECTING FILMS FOR THE COMPETITIONS WE WANT TO SEE THE FILMMAKER’S SEARCH FOR FRESH STORIES AND IMAGES, SEE THEM QUESTIONING THE CONTEMPORARY TRENDS OF CINEMA OR THE CONCEPT OF CINEMA ITSELF. A SHORT OF ANY BUDGET OR QUALITY WILL BE CONSIDERED AS LONG AS THE SELECTION COMMITTEE WILL SEE SOMETHING THAT IS UNFORGETTABLE AND PUSHES THE EXISTING BOUNDARIES OF CINEMA AS AN ART AND COMMUNICATION FORM. ALTHOUGH WE ONLY ALLOW FILMS THAT ARE NOT LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES, NO FURTHER GENRE OR CONTENT RESTRICTIONS APPLY.”
